Day breaks as I return to the village. I wonder if Kain is doing the same. I decided to wait at our makeshift base for him. It might help me sort some things out.

As I turn the corner, my pack hits me in the face with such force that I'm knocks me over.

Adrian: What the hell?

Kain: Don't leave important things behind.

Adrian: Thanks, DAD!

Kain: If I'm not mistaken, you were taught to respect all of your elders.

Adrian: Ugh... Sorry, sir.

Kain: Heh, good boy.

Adrian: Bastard...

We sit down and talk about what we found. I didn't find anything, so my part was pretty short. He found out more than we had in both of our travels combined. It turns out that a person by the name of David was trying to rule the entire country. He found out that there's a factory that makes all of his minions. The main piece of lost information... the location of the factory. Now we know what questions need to be asked.

We decided to head back to Sid's in order to ret and relax a little bit before heading out again.

There was a slight change of plans though. Some new information sent us to a village that is only known as "Village N." Rumor had it that the leader had abandoned the village due to personal problems. Nobody seems to have the ability to gain control over the village which has led to the loss of many of the villages prominant members. The only real activity are the fights among the visiting people who always try to fight with the villagers.

I didn't want to b elieve that such a great place had fallen so low, but I couldn't help but see the proof for myself. The place was in ruins. None of the shops were open or in decent condition. Anarchy was the only mindset. Crime went unchecked as poverty stricken people did as they wanted without worry.

Disgusting...

There was a makeshift pub set up with guards at the entrance. It was too obvious not to notice as the only secure place in the village. I had the urge to enter.

Kain: Eh, it doesn't look like anything but local politics. You can handle it by yourself.

Adrian: Alright...

I headed into the building, after bribing the guards of course, and went straight for the bar. Nothing like a few drinks to feel a bit more relaxed.

Nobody seemed to know any information though. A few of the "regulars" with whores "entertaining" them was all that was there.

This place is getting worse by the second...

I finish with my fourth drink when I hear commotion outside. It didn't last long. Did somebody try to get in by force? Those body guards couldn't be taken down by any ordinary person though. Poor slob is probably dead.

Suddenly the doors were kicked open and a girl came inside. The pub became dead silent.

Girl: Where's the party at?

Normally I would've stayed quiet, but the drinks got to me a little bit.

Adrian: In mah pants!

A guy who had been in the shadows busted out laughing.

Guy: OMG! That was great. Very nice. Predictable, but nice.

Adrian: Ya, I went there. I like the way it worked too.

The guy walked out of the shadows and sat next to me at the bar.

Guy: They call me Gaiden.

Adrian: They call me Adrian.

Girl: I'm Lahna.

Adrian: Well, let's have a party.

I order a round of drinks for us to enjoy ourselves depsite the obvious desire for us to leave the more "seasoned" patrons. It was cleard the gang bosses wanted us to leave. We didn't care though, because we were having too much fun. The drinks kept coming for a while and things got too relaxed. Gaiden was continually trying to hit on Lahna, but she's way too smart for him and shut him down easily. We all soon discovered each other's reasons for being there though. Lahna and I were looking for answers, but it seems Gaiden's intentions were a bit different.

Gaiden: Well, some piece of shit village like this wouldn't be on any attack list, right?

Lahna: Oh my hero...

Adrian: What the hell? You pussy... no pun intended.

Gaiden: Hey! Don't judge me!

Lahna: You sure you're a man?

Gaiden: Hear me out guys! I've been staying away from the fighting because I see no point in fighting so many lackies who have no answers. It's pointless.

Lahna: So the possibility of stopping them from killing innocent people isn't enough motivation?

Gaiden: I hadn't thought of it that way.

Lahna: No shit. Stop thinking about yourself! You're not the only one in the world!

Adrian: There are two ways to define what is evil, that which commit evil acts, and that which fails to prevent it.

Gaiden: Ok, ok... I'll help you out.

Lahna: You didn't have a choice anyway.

Gaiden: That's good to know, I guess.

We finished exchanging information that we had and I was still in the same place as before. There was a region in which none of us had traveled however. It was the best lead we had. We had to go to the southern coast.

Kain and I had to first go see Sid, so we needed to leave Lahna and Gaiden behind while we prepared.
